<a></a>,<p></p>,<b></b> etc. are called Element, A complete tag, having an opening <tag> and a closing </tag> as
<start-tag> Text content </start-tag>

End Tag

This is heading content.
</h1>
<div>
This is division content.
</div>
<p>
This is paragraph content.
</p>
<br>
This is break line having no end tag.
Here <br> tag having no end tag such tags are also called
Void elements
(i.e. <img>, <hr>)

Always use lowercase, as in HTML5 tags are not case sensitive <DIV> & <div> both are same. but in HTML4 W3C recommends lowercase.

Don't forget end tag, it will give same output but sometime cover text and tag next to come (technically it's wrong).

All html elements can be nested as per requirement see example below :-
as <head> & <body> elements are nested inside <html> element
